The Upstate NY Nathan Shock Center (Upstate NSC) is a collaborative initiative based at the University of Rochester, dedicated to advancing research in the Comparative Biology of Aging. By leveraging the natural diversity in lifespans and aging processes across species, our mission is to uncover fundamental mechanisms of longevity that cannot be replicated in traditional laboratory models. The Upstate NSC addresses a critical gap in aging research by providing access to unconventional model organisms, advanced analytical technologies, and expert support through four integrated Research Resource Cores:
